Dr. Roderick Mulgan is the medical mind behind Lifeguard Health.

A Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, Dr. Mulgan brings over 30 years of clinical experience, with a special focus on aged care, longevity, and the role of nutrition in healthy aging.

He holds medical and legal degrees, including an MB ChB from Otago University, a Master of Public Policy, and an LLB (Hons) from Victoria University.

Dr. Mulgan spent over a decade building one of New Zealand’s leading multi-doctor practices servicing aged-care facilities, where he saw firsthand the long-term impacts of lifestyle choices on health outcomes.

Our Values: Healthy Aging and the Prevention of Inflamation

This experience sparked a deep interest in the science of prevention—pecifically, how everyday habits, novel foods, and targeted supplements can combat inflammation and delay the onset of chronic disease.

The Eternal Flame

In 2019, he published *The Internal Flame*, a groundbreaking book exploring silent inflammation, longevity, and the power of nutraceuticals. He followed this with “Build Your Immunity For Life” a book about diet and lifestyle choices to protect against infection.

Clinically backed formulations

His research led to the development of Lifeguard Heath, with it's first product being a formulation of five clinically selected plant extracts to support immune health and graceful aging. This was soon followed by formulations for sleep and immunity.

Beyond Lifeguard, Dr. Mulgan remains active as a medical doctor, and a criminal barrister. He is also a public health advocate, columnist, and Chair of New Zealand’s Free Speech Union.

His unique blend of medical, legal, and policy expertise underpins his commitment to evidence-based, ethical wellness solutions for people over 40.
