The science of grapes

Grapes — especially red grapes — are among the richest fruit sources of plant phytochemicals (see Why Nutraceuticals Matter), including resveratrol. Much of this is concentrated in the seeds and skins rather than the flesh, so eating grapes delivers only a fraction of it.

Winemaking presses large volumes of grapes each year and sets aside the skins and seeds. Some of this is freeze-dried and made into dietary supplements — a concentrated source of antioxidant phenolic compounds such as proanthocyanidins.

Each capsule of Lifeguard Essentials contains 75 milligrams of grape seed extract, concentrated from 9 grams of seeds, and 75 milligrams of red grape skin extract, concentrated from 1.5 grams of skins — the goodness of skin and seeds, without the wine glass.

Grape seed extract is one of six botanicals in Lifeguard Essentials, alongside Meriva curcumin, boswellia, olive leaf and baical skullcap. Doctor-formulated and made in New Zealand for adults 45+.
